Join Faye (Wildest Yoga) and Michael Bjerrum from Saturday 13th - Saturday 20th April (Easter week) 2019, for our 7 day Essence of Practice Retreat. Taking place in Ubud, Bali, we will be serving our highest self through deep yoga, healthy food & ceremony.
With emerald green rice paddies, volcanic beaches and Hindu temples, Bali is known for its ceremonial culture and is the Asian hub for yoga lovers. We have found a gem of a home nestled amongst the fields and flowers, complete with a pool and private staff. Wake up to the sounds of morning bird song and enjoy being looked after in our tropical paradise.
Wake up with sweaty morning vinyasa yoga, nerd out in technical workshops and dive deep into sunset yin. Taste the abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables prepared by our private chefs and try out new exciting Indonesian dishes in the evenings.
Ceremonies... Bali is the land of ceremony! Whether it be waking up and thanking the gods, or asking for guidance, we will be taking part in a range of our own ceremonies (including sound healing and a water ceremony).
So what are you waiting for? Come heal your mind, body and soul and join two of Copenhagen's most sought after teachers in beautiful Bali!
On this retreat, Faye and Michael will both be teaching dynamic vinyasa yoga, workshops on technique/inversions/arm balances and healing yin. This retreat will not be beginners yoga, but new students are more than welcome but be prepared to dive in the deep end.
Weaving together both Faye and Michael's similar styles, the practice will be strong vinyasa, flows with fluidity and playfulness. Expect laughs and a lot of sweat!
Each day begins in silence with optional meditation or just enjoy a cup of herbal tea and tune in to the sounds of Bali's nature waking up alongside you. Following this will be an intense 2 hour vinyasa practice overlooking the rice paddies, with lots of chances to explore challenging poses and get you ready for the rest of the day.
Afternoons will be a mixture of workshop style classes to nerd out on technique ranging from alignment, to flying high with inversions and arm balances. Closing off each day we will ground ourselves down with deep yin as day to turns to night.
As always, we will also be finding new ways to explore pranayama (breath work) and meditation, experimenting with different styles throughout the week & some days we have evening gatherings with either film nights or Yoga Nidra (yoga sleep).
Our chef will be preparing eggs, toast, pancakes, french toast, chia coconut yoghurt, tropical fruit accompanied by coffee, tea and fresh fruit juices.
Lunch in local restaurants
To have the opportunity to sample the local food and area, guests can take the 20 minute walk to central Ubud and experience some of the incredible cafes and restaurants serving both local cuisine and western health foods. Think smoothies, Açai bowls, vegan icecreams, buddha bowls, salad bars, and local Warungs (small family owned local eateries).
For dinner, expect a buffet style array of delicious Indonesian and Southeast Asian dishes such as: Tempe, satay, tofu, noodles, vegtables, curries, rice dishes, gado-gado, pad thai, sushi, raw salads, soups and so much more!

TEMPLE HOLY SPRING WATER CLEANSE
Take part in a spiritual cleanse at Tirta Empul, one of the largest and busiest water temples in Indonesia. The temple was founded in 926 A.D. and is dedicated to Vishnu, who is the Hindu god of water. The name of the temple actually means ‘holy water spring’ in Balinese.
The Jaba Tengah is the most famous part of Tirta Empul temple. This section contains the two purification pools. The water in the pools is believed to have magical powers and local Balinese and tourists come here to purify themselves under the 30 water spouts that feed the pools. Not to be missed.
KECAK FIRE DANCE SHOW
A mesmerising theatrical experience, the Kecak is essentially a choir dance performed by a large moving mass of bare-chested male dancers in concentric circles, simulated to the sounds of the Gamelan Suara, enacting a battle from the epic, Ramayana. It gets its name from the hypnotic and repetitive chorus that these men chant rhythmically in perfect unison.
SOUND HEALING AT THE PYRAMIDS OF CHI
An evening of pure magic in a giant pyramids in the jungle with gongs & singing bowls, this will be something to remember!
FAYE BALDWIN // WILDEST YOGA
Faye, who teaches under the name Wildest Yoga, is currently based in Copenhagen teaching in a handful of studios. Half Singaporean, a large portion of her time each year is spent traveling around Asia , exploring new places on small budgets and diving in to the local cultures.
She energises students through rejuvenating, sweaty, fiery Vinyasa flow classes. Balancing this, Faye also holds delicious Yoga sound bath workshops blending Yin with deep vibrational soundscapes. Expect laughs & bliss in her light-hearted classes, where she helps you seek the internal and external balance of sweetness and intensity, letting go to create space in the body and mind.
Michael has been teaching yoga for a decade and was registered RYT-200 Hatha yoga teacher in 2010. He started yoga due to curiosity and severe back pains and after one year of yoga, only curiosity remains and is his driving force towards becoming an even better teacher.
Michael has experience in many forms of yoga but Anusara yoga is now his main source of inspiration. He has trained with some of the world's best yoga teachers and his teaching is based on a thorough knowledge of anatomy and movement patterns. After personal injuries and to rebuild body strength, he also has extensive experience with restorative yoga.
"I went to on the retreat expecting wonderful kick-ass yoga. I got so much more! It may be a cliche to talk about a journey, but for me it was more like coming home to your long lost friends and atmosphere of unconditional love and acceptance."
